Welcome to Akron Ohio Own H.Y.P.E
My name is Cordell Walker Sr and H.Y.P.E. started from my own life. H.Y.P.E. stands for Helping Young People Elevate and I created it because of everything I went through. I spent eight and a half years in prison and those years forced me to look at who I was, what I lost, and what kind of man I wanted to be when I came home. I realized the streets do not need more kids going down the same road I did. They need guidance, support, and real examples of change. I built H.Y.P.E. to give young people what I never had. I know what it feels like to grow up without direction and to think the streets are the only option. Now I use my story and everything I learned to show the youth a different way. Every program, every event, every conversation is my promise to show up for them and help them rise. If I could elevate my life after everything I went through, they can elevate theirs too.
