About Us

Helping Young People Elevate (H.Y.P.E.) is an Akron-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to helping young people grow, make better choices, discover their purpose, and see beyond their current circumstances.

H.Y.P.E. was built on more than just an idea. It was built from lived experience and a real understanding of the challenges many young people face every day. Our approach goes beyond traditional mentorship because we believe real impact starts with showing up, listening, building trust, staying consistent, and meeting young people where they are.

Through mentorship, violence prevention and intervention, leadership development, life skills, positive experiences, and community engagement, H.Y.P.E. creates opportunities for young people to be heard, supported, challenged, and exposed to something different.

Our work does not stop when a program or event ends. Whether it means showing up at a school, visiting a young person in juvenile detention, talking with a parent, providing transportation, connecting families to resources, or simply answering the phone when a young person needs someone, H.Y.P.E. believes in being present.

We are building more than programs. We are building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping young people understand that where they come from does not have to determine where they are going.
